Fuchsia!

A few days ago, I drove a friend to the airport. On the way home, I decided to stop at a local nursery to see what was available.

Even though it was 88ºF outside, the more delicate plants were inside a makeshift “greenhouse” of plastic sheeting to protect them from colder nighttime temps. I spotted this gorgeous hanging fuchsia plant and took the next three shots with my iPhone:

Don’t they look like ballerinas?

Of course, I bought the plant. The shot above was taken with my Nikon and I titled it “Fuchsia Ballet.”

Great weekend, everyone!

A glimpse of Morocco, Epcot-style

We almost skipped the Morocco pavilion at Epcot Center and that would have been a mistake. It’s one of the most beautiful, and almost made me feel like I was in the country. This is the Disney version, after all.

Two takes on a carousel

We had one day of bad weather in Florida, but didn’t let the tornado warnings and frequent rainstorms deter us. This was for our friend J, and we made the most of it. Fortunately, a lot of stuff is indoors.

While waiting for a ride in the Magic Kingdom, I took this shot of the carousel near Sleeping Beauty’s castle:

Carousel redux

It was “blue hour” and everyone was wearing plastic ponchos, including us. They look kind of gossamer-like, don’t they?

About twenty minutes later, it rained again and there was a nice reflection on the other side:

Both shot with the iPhone.

Tulip magnolias and a message

The other day, I took some shots of tulip or saucer magnolias (Magnolia x soulangeana to be exact) with different exposures.

For the first, I used the “correct” settings:

Aloft

For the second, I changed the shutter speed for a different look:

Springtime dance  {explore--thank you!}

Experimenting is so much fun in photography.

Finally, I’d like to wish a very Happy Birthday to my husband, the sweetest man I know. My life got better the instant we met, and I am forever grateful. I love you, honey.

Back in France, kind of….

If you ever go to Epcot Center, be sure to visit the France Pavilion. It has the beautiful architecture, an Eiffel Tower and its own little Seine complete with artist and vintage bicycle:

There’s also a restaurant called Les Chefs de France, where my friend S. and I took our developmentally disabled friend J. to celebrate her birthday. It’s very Parisian:

(Sorry about the quality–this iPHone shot looked crystal clear on the camera, but something happened along the upload way.)

This is what we had for dessert:

Those profiteroles were good! But the best part was, right before we dug in, seven or eight French waiters surrounded us and sang “Joyeux Anniversaire” (Happy Birthday in French) to J. They looked so handsome in their black waistcoats and long white aprons–I wish I had a photo. It happened so fast, and I guess I just wanted to enjoy the moment. One thing’s for sure: we’ll never forget the delight in J’s eyes.

Cherry Blossom time

Hi everyone, I’m back from Florida. My friends and I had a wonderful time, but we are exhausted! Probably not a good idea to do Disney World and Epcot in three days, huh? I have a lot of catching up to do, so will just post one photo a day until I get things under control.

It’s much cooler here, but the cherry blossoms are out! Enjoy….

It's cherry blossom time....  {explore}

See you tomorrow….
