About

When I chose the name for this blog, I wasn’t sure what direction I was going with it. As time went on, I realized I wanted this to mainly be a photography blog, but with other stuff I’m interested in too. Like books and music; movies and art; gardening and decorating. I hope my photos are “pearls”–I love photography.

I also love peonies, lilacs and roses; traveling, good English tea, Kona coffee, Cadbury’s chocolate; New York City, Paris and London; Provence and most things French.

I’m married to the sweetest man on earth, and in addition to my two wonderful sons, I have three charming stepchildren. I also have an adorable and exasperating Maltese named Rocky who’s fifteen, but looks like a puppy. [Update: we lost our sweet Rocky in June 2015. He was nearly 18, so lived a long, happy life, but we miss him terribly. Now we have a beautiful Siberian cat named Yuri who’s a real rascal!]

In case you’re wondering, the iPhone self-portrait above was created with the PaintMee app.

Lovely, lovely, lovely. I am really amazed by your photos. I am half French (other half Italian) but living in a German speaking country, my paternal grandmother was from Brittany, my father from Paris. I have a “mostly” books blog. I love the picture of your dog. A cute dog. One of my cats also still looks like a kitten. I have a second blog where I also post things on France and Provence. No wonder you got that award. You deserve it.

I’m glad you love photography because you’re really good at it! I thought about getting one of those big fancy cameras too but decided I probably wouldn’t take it most places because of the size and the fact that I’d be worried about setting it down anywhere. I finally got another camera though about 2 weeks ago. I got a Nikon S8100 and I really love it, it’s so much faster and more detailed than the Canon Powershot A530 I’ve had for the past 5 years. That’s really cool about all your travels! (and that you studied French in a country I share a name with hehe) I hope I can do a lot of traveling after college (or during), especially in Europe. I bet you have some really great shots from your travels over the years!

  10. Thank you. It took me a long time, but I’m finally starting to travel with my Nikon. It’s insured, so that helps. There are some pretty incredible point-and-shoots out there and I use a Canon Powershot when I don’t want a big camera, or I want to be unobtrusive. Panasonic also makes a great little camera with a Leica lens. I’ve seen gorgeous photos taken with that.

I do have some decent shots from my travels and hope to scan the negatives one day.

I completely understand your love for Provence – I lived in France for 10-11 years, and we went regularly to Provence; I also got married there this past summer! My family is still in Paris, which gives me a great excuse to visit as much as possible! Great blog, by the way, I’m really enjoying your pictures!
