I took this in the Gothic quarter (Barrio Gotico) of Barcelona. I think this bridge across the Carrer del Bisbe is so lovely.
Many of the buildings date back to Medieval and Roman times. The streets are labyrinthine and very narrow, so they are closed to most traffic. It was a nice place to take a stroll.
A close-up of one of the statues.
Isn’t the craftmanship amazing?
Hope your week’s going well so far.

Craftsmanship is really amazing, very beautiful statues!
They really are.
Love the stonework – amazing stuff !
It’s everywhere in Spain, Susan. So beautiful.
Wonderful photos, thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed them!
The bridge reminds me of the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, although this one is much more ornate.
Yes! There’s another one on the campus at Oxford too. Will have to hunt that one down if it’s any good.
I just had a chill when I clicked on your post and saw it’s title and the photos. I’ve been writing a story these past days. A short crime story set in the Barrio Gotico. Isn’t that an uncanny coincidence? I so loved it when i was there. Beautiful pictures.
Oh, that is truly eerie, Caroline. What are the odds? Slim, I’d say.
I really liked the area too. It was so nice to walk those narrow streets without cars. A nice change from La Ramblas.
Amazing architecture and detail; great how you are able to capture them.
Thank you. đŸ™‚
Gorgeous! Thank you for the heads up. We will visit in May!
Thanks! It’s a wonderful city. I highly recommend everything Gaudi and La Boqueria market on La Ramblas.
