Finding some green

Winter Green

It’s been really cold lately, so I was surprised to see this bit of green in the backyard. I don’t mind cold weather, but I’m weary of the icy winds we’re having.

We had a little bit of snow on Saturday, but it’s mostly gone now. These azaleas are next to the driveway, and it amazes me that they’re able to survive this weather. They’re so beautiful in the spring.

Water with Lime

I love the color of fresh limes. If only it looked this good on people. Kind of like trying to make perfume smell like roses. They never get it quite right, do they?

Snow is supposed to fall this afternoon, so white will probably be the color tomorrow.

Hope your day is going well….

  1. I hope that green is still there after the snow we get tonight! If we get it. They keep calling for it and then…nothing. Or we get barely anything.

We have green from the many pine trees in our yard but there is nothing like spring green as the plants start to emerge from their long winter’s nap. I love the lime slices in the glass of water. Looks very refreshing.

    • For me, one of the best parts of living on the East Coast again is looking forward to a real spring. You’re right about new plants emerging–the best.

I am really liking your avatar photo, by the way!

I can’t believe it… Where do those green leaves come from? I love Azalea’s and although none of my plants usually die, Azalea’s don’t survive indoors. Maybe too stuffy for them. The photo of the limes is very pretty. How does it not look good on people? In clothes? I used to wear it often. Even got a pair of shoes… Only you can’t sneak around unnoticed in a color like that.

    • The plant is a vine that doesn’t realize it’s winter.

I love lime green, but just can’t wear it well. Makes my blond hair look green too!

I wanna’ see those shoes, Caroline.

Those shoes got such a lot of compliments, you wouldn’t believe it. I thought you must be blond after that comment. It doesn’t work too well with blond or reddish hair.

    • I bought a neon lime green t-shirt at the beach and loved it. As long as I had a tan and really blond hair, I could get away with it. No more tanning for me–I’m too fair and skin cancer runs in my family. I might be able to do the shoes, since they’re far from my blond hair. 🙂

Love all three shots, especially the last one. Refreshing is such a good word for it. That first shot reminds me of spring, isn’t it odd how the simple color green can make you think of warmer times 🙂
