This little guy had to be left behind when my husband had his surgery. Six whole weeks, but we found the best pet sitter! It was true love on both sides…she sent me more than a few photos of Yuri on her lap and looking very content. It was such a relief to not have to worry about him while we were gone.

Hi everyone,
It feels like I’ve been gone for ages. Sorry about that. My husband had kidney transplant surgery (on Christmas Day no less!) and I was his caregiver. I have to say it was the most stressful and rewarding experience of my life.
And now we’re living in the times of the Coronavirus. It is surreal to think this virus is all over the world now. We are staying in as much as possible to do our part to flatten the curve. Just last night the governor of California ordered all residents to stay home.
Since I can’t do a lot of photography, I’m going to dig in the archives and offer up a photo each week that hopefully will take your mind off these challenging times, even if just for a moment.
Oh, WordPress has changed the format since I left, so I’m kind of learning as I go. I do appreciate your patience!

A couple months ago I went to a talk by one of my favorite authors, Ruta Sepetys. Thanks to Jackie Cangro, I discovered her books and enjoyed them immensely. They are Young Adult fiction, but many adults are reading her work now. I read Between Shades of Gray first and enjoyed it immensely. I liked Salt to the Sea, but not as much. The former has been made into a movie called Ashes in the Snow but I haven’t seen it. You can view the trailer here:
I enjoyed Sepetys’s talk very much. She is a wonderful speaker and very open about her writing experience. She seems like the kindest person too.
People were asking to be in photos with her after she signed their books, but I prefer to be behind the camera and Ruta very nicely posed for me.
I got a copy of her latest book, The Fountains of Silence, and look forward to reading it. If you get the chance, go to one of her talks.

This time of year always makes me think of the fall colors back East. I’m pretty sure these are poplar leaves. If anyone knows otherwise, let me know. I got so I could name a lot of plants back there, but the memories are fading. 🙂
