A couple months ago I went to a talk by one of my favorite authors, Ruta Sepetys. Thanks to Jackie Cangro, I discovered her books and enjoyed them immensely. They are Young Adult fiction, but many adults are reading her work now. I read Between Shades of Gray first and enjoyed it immensely. I liked Salt to the Sea, but not as much. The former has been made into a movie called Ashes in the Snow but I haven’t seen it. You can view the trailer here:
I enjoyed Sepetys’s talk very much. She is a wonderful speaker and very open about her writing experience. She seems like the kindest person too.
People were asking to be in photos with her after she signed their books, but I prefer to be behind the camera and Ruta very nicely posed for me.
I got a copy of her latest book, The Fountains of Silence, and look forward to reading it. If you get the chance, go to one of her talks.
Great weekend, everyone!

I’m so happy to hear that you met Ruta in person! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her as well, and I found her to be as warm and lovely as you did. 🙂
I’ve not read her latest book, but I’m looking forward to it.
She was wonderful, Jackie! So glad I went.
I’ll look her up at the local library- good to have a recommendation!
Enjoy!
She sounds like an interesting author. I will check it out. Surprised me to see the signing was held at my alma mater. We are having a reunion in the summer.
It was the perfect venue. There are so few bookstores now, sadly.
