Is This the Face of a Killer?

Recently, I read about a study that stated domestic cats would probably kill us, but they’re too small. To be honest, sometimes Yuri looks at me like he is considering murder, ha ha. Those piercing eyes that never look away! He also lies in wait at the bottom of the stairs, then jumps out at me. The vet says this is a way to show he wants to play, but I feel a little bit…hunted.

Turns out the study conducted by University of Edinburgh researchers was grossly misinterpreted. Lead researcher Marieke Gartner stated that cats are the most similar to lions because they share the personality traits of “impulsivity, dominance and neuroticism.” I definitely see the first and second traits in Yuri. He’ll be purring contentedly while I’m petting him and suddenly turn on me and pretend to bite my arm. He then runs off, but comes back in a little while. I don’t think he’s neurotic, unless you count his intense fear of the vacuum cleaner.

Anyway, if you’re a cat owner, have no fear. Cats may be a less affectionate than dogs, but they do love you. I think.

Great weekend, everyone!

Apparently, they can be “overpetted”, it’s like some static builds up and that feels quite unpleasant for them. Some cat’s have a very low, others a very high treshold. If he didn’t like you as much, he’d scratch you once he’s getting that nervous feeling. I haven’t found out, when to stop with one of my cats, so he does the same as Yuri, bites, gently and runs off, while the other can take stroking for hours. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I am so careful to watch that tail of his because I know heโ€™s bothered if it starts twitching. He will even pretend to bite me right after purring.
Did not know that about static electricity, but it makes sense. Some cats may be more sensitive, like people.

      • Caroline says:

Thereโ€™s a cat expert on YouTube called Jason Galaxy and he demonstrated that. Even after so many years of having cats I learned things. It can also happen when they havenโ€™t played enough. He has a channel and written books.

      • Yes, I’ve noticed that Yuri is kind of touchy if I haven’t played with him as much as he’d like. Now he wants me in the kitchen while he eats. Will have to break that habit pronto. ๐Ÿ™‚
Going to look up the cat expert now, Caroline.

I would say they would most definitely murder us, but I don’t think it would be intentional.
