Back to Winter

Well, I shouldn’t have talked about how spring comes early to Southern California. The following week it turned cold and rainy. It even got down in the 30s at night.

But there’s something wonderful about winter in California besides the mild temps. The air is crystal-clear and the horizon at the beach is knife-sharp and everything looks like it’s in hyper focus….

This was taken at lunchtime a couple days ago and yes, it’s pretty deserted this time of year. The only people going into the water in February are tourists and die-hard surfers. I do like the patterns in the sand.

Great weekend, everyone!

Wow! That’s crystal clear and simply beautiful.

It would not be nearly as appealing if the beach was teeming with people — even attractive people!

    • We’re pretty lucky that our beaches aren’t super-packed, even in the summer. Parking, however, is a problem. There just aren’t enough spaces when tourists are here in summer.

Beaches at winter are even more fascinating than at summer! Beautiful shot!

  4. Whoo, look at those vibrant blues. That’s one of my favorite things about cool, crisp air.

Same here. It looked like spring and then we had a mssive temperature drop. Minus 10°C and snow. We haven’t had that in ages but then, three days later, the temperature climbed up to + 16°C. It is so strange.
    Lovely colors on your photo.

  7. Thanks, Caroline. I’ve been surprised to see snow in Paris, London and Venice on Instagram. Very strange weather indeed.
