Little Italy Rocks II

While in Little Italy we didn’t have time to visit this art gallery, but I like the advert hanging on the wall:

succulents

I shot these succulents while waiting for the light to turn at a crosswalk. The leaves almost look like they have edge stitching.

tabletop

A colorful vignette on a table outside one of the many boutiques.

mandevilla

Pink mandevilla with some colorful framework.

Filippi's

Filippi’s Pizza Grotto is an authentic Italian market, restaurant and pizza joint. I love their lasagna. The place is an institution.

After all, they’ve been. . .

1950

La Pensione sign

This hand-painted sign really reminds me of Europe.

As you’re walking down India Street, remember to look left so you’ll see the ships in San Diego Bay:

pink +aqua

More mandevilla against an aquamarine wall. Or is it teal?

When we left Little Italy, the light had gotten even more mellow, so I took one last shot of the Citroën in front of a Necco-wafer-colored high-rise. . . .

Great weekend, everyone!

It’s amazing how bright everything out there is. The sun was out today in London and I was enthralled with the brightness. it has been so grey lately. Enjoy the colors. Have a wonderful weekend!

    • I once lived in an area that had gray skies all winter. One time a movie set in California appeared on TV and I almost leaped at the screen to get closer to the blue skies and sunniness. (Is that a word?) I’d never make it in London or Seattle, as much as I love both places.

  2. Very pleasant walk around Little Italy:)

Ooh these colors. I can really feel them tickle my eyes. I like all of them.
I would have called that color turquoise. I think it’s my favourite of these photos.

Great photos Carole! I love the mandevilla shot. Gorgeous!

  5. I, too, love the vibrant colors. it feels so tropical and energizing. It’s been gray, gray, gray here for at least a week. A peek of blue sky came out today but then was gone in about an hour.

  6. Such beautiful colours again, and the second last photo is a stand out.

You have a great weekend too, Carole. This array of fabulous photos has me feeling like I’ve been there … on the travel list. In the meantime I’ll have to visit Little Italy in Toronto!

  8. You just find the colors wherever you go! 😉
