It’s the Fourth of July, our Independence Day, so I’ll wish you a safe and happy holiday if you’re in the U.S., or a great Wednesday!
My husband has informed me that the fifteen stars and stripes stand for the fifteen existing United States. It was a flag like this that inspired Francis Scott Key to compose the poem “Defence of Fort McHenry” during the War of 1812.
I was surprised to learn that the “poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men’s social club in London,” according to Wikipedia. Ironic, considering the war was between the U.S. and the British Empire.

Bet you like the temperatures better in SD than what’s happening in MD. We liked weather/climate in SD better than any place we lived, including HI. Enjoy!
Oh, we are! It’s downright chilly today, but that’s fine with us. š
I hope you had a great day.
I did, thanks, Caroline.
One of my closest friends lives in SD so I have the SD weather on my phone. I think of how nice it is out there, especially when it’s 98 degrees here.
I always joke with her that the weather forecasters must be out of jobs there. š
Yes, it must be very boring for weather forecasters out here! I’ve kind of forgotten how chilly it gets after the sun goes down here. Definitely sweater or light jacket weather. It is wonderful not living in air conditioning anymore.
