I took this shot of our hibiscus earlier today. Two weeks ago it was on death’s door. We’ve had it for at least five years, but one day I found tons of whiteflies on most of the leaves. I tried blasting it with the hose, but that worked for one day. Went to a local nursery and asked what to use for whitefly. Turns out NEEM Oil is a godsend and after two applications we were whitefly free.
This was taken on my iPhone because my “good” cameras weren’t charged. The colors are very true-to-life and the detail is quite decent.

Whitefly need a lot of moisture, and hibiscus like a lot of moisture, so they complement each other. However, you can pretty much control whitefly if you don’t allow the hibiscus leaves to get wet by landscape irrigation or hose watering. I use drip sprinklers for my hibiscus and never have a problem with whitefly.
Thanks. My hibiscus is in a container, so I just use a watering can, careful to not get the leaves wet. Whiteflies seem to come at random times.
