After decades of shooting with a Nikon, I made the switch to a Canon with full-frame sensor. I love my new camera, but it took me a while to learn my way around. Now that I’m used to it, I like it better than the Nikon. Took me a bit of time to get used to the extra weight, but that’s minor.
I wanted to blog about St. Petersburg this week, but will need more time to sort through those photos. So many! Hoping to have the first post up next week.
So for now, here are three shots I took with the new camera at the Botanical Gardens.
Sorry, I forgot the name of this yellow flower.
Jujube fruit. I’ve never seen it growing before, have you?
Hope your week’s going well so far.

Congratulations!! I made the switch last year and since then picked up another one. I think you may find it hard to go back because I have not picked up my crop sensors cameras in months!, Beautiful images and I’m looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks so much! I’m very happy with the camera so far. Will probably use the Nikon once in a while, but it does have limitations for sure. That camera’s been very good to me. π
“Traitor”, I am just kidding, since I am Nikon shooter from early days on. I am happy for your switch and your images are beautiful! So tell me what is the most significant difference between the both. Just two or three sentences, uhh, that’s a lot ask. Have fun with your new “baby”, called Canon. By the way Jujube, is used quite a lot in Persian cuisine. Happy “shooting”!
Ha ha, I do feel a little bit like I’ve gone to the dark side. π Never thought I’d give up Nikon, but I’d heard such great things about Canon from other photographers. The Nikon I considered was out of my price range.
To be honest, I don’t see a lot of significant differences yet, except the extra weight. The body is less smooth, so easier to grip, in my opinion. I also like that all the dials are easy to locate when you’re shooting. This camera is much quieter too. I mainly wanted the full-frame sensor.
Did not know that about jujube. Thought it was candy from the old days. π
beautiful π
Thank you. π
Geez, I like your new camera as well. Happy shooting!
Thanks, TB! I am having fun with it.
