The Church of Saint Nicholas, or Saint Nicholas Cathedral, is a beautiful Baroque church in the Malá Strana part of Prague. It was built between 1704-1755 and is considered one of the most impressive examples of Prague Baroque. Our hotel was within walking distance of this church and I never got tired of looking at it.
What’s really cool is that Mozart played on the church organ which has 4,000 pipes. Mozart’s Mass in C was first performed here shortly after his visit.
If you ever get the chance, visit Prague. It is stunning.
Great weekend, everyone!

One of my Top 10 cities. I absolutely love Prague. Unfortunately they restored it and it’s so expensive now and not all that nice. I liked it a bit dirty. It had more atmosphere. Budapest is still like that. But it’s totally different – very different architecture. I like Prague better.
Was this recent, Caroline? I was there in year 2000 and the city didn’t look “whitewashed” to me. I’m torn on that because I’ve seen buildings that were almost completely blackened and they looked beautiful after some sandblasting. But I like the weathered look too.
Yes, it was more recent than that. Can’t remember the year though 2002?
Would be interesting to see and compare. I’d love to go back to Prague.
Stunning, indeed. I bet the interior is every bit as gorgeous as the exterior. The color of the roof reminds me a bit of Florence. 🙂
It was, Jackie, but photography must have been verboten because I have none of the interior. I love those roofs too.
Prague is one of the most beautiful cities. December, years ago, when I visited, it was mesmerizing, snow falling down on that famous bridge, sorry the name of it causes a blank in my mind. In freezing cold evenings, I would walk into churches where they would perform concerts for Christmas times, locals would sit in the pews of church and greet each other, smiles on their faces, it was just beautiful to experience that.
How lucky are you! I would love to see Prague with snow falling. You must be talking about Karlův most (Charles Bridge) the one with all the statues leading across the Moldau. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. One night we saw fireworks on the bridge while an excellent stringed quartet played “Ave Maria.”
Isn’t that a blessing, to hear such Angelique music? yes you are right Charles bridge.
Have you ever been in Krakau, Poland? That’s where I am going to spend a few days this summer on my trip to Germany for my nephews wedding.
It was truly memorable.
No, I haven’t been to Krakow, but I hear it’s beautiful too. Take lots of photos!
