The Chiemsee is a lake in Southern Bavaria, close to the foothills of the Alps. I lived and worked at a resort there for two years. This was taken near the dock where they kept the sailboats.
Hope your week’s going well so far.

Just looking at the photo I wouldn’t have places this in Bavaria. I know it’s a lovely place, though.
We’re always thnking about moving – Bavaria is an option as well.
I was surprised at how beautiful the sunsets were there, Caroline. The Alp foothills were behind me when I took this photo, so it could be just about anywhere. Sudbayern (Southern Bavaria) is drop-dead gorgeous. So you’re thinking of leaving Switzerland?
We always are but then again – it’s nice too. π
I think I’d have to go with Paris, but it is really expensive, I know.
I couldn’t help but think “On Golden Pond” when I saw the photo.
Did you enjoy your time working at the resort? You must have met a lot of interesting people.
Jackie, it was soooo much fun. Everyone was in their twenties and we got to use all the facilities including the sailboats and water ski boats. There was a bar with live music every night, so we stayed up late and worked with one eye open the next day. π
The resort was between Munich and Salzburg, so we had incredible scenery and a great city to visit.
I did meet some really terrific people there.
That sounds fantastic. Like a Bavarian Club Med. π Sign me up.
It basically was. π
great golden look π
Thank you. π
That makes me really homesick……. as children my parents would take us for summer vacation to Chiemsee, we lived there in a famer’s house, happy childhood days there.
I had no idea! You’re the first person I’ve encountered who went there as a child. I loved living near Chiemsee.
what village or little town did you live and work than?
I lived within walking distance of a little town called Bernau. Prien was where we went out to dinner and took a boat to Herrenchiemsee, which was incredible. Did you go inside the castle?
