Getty Images has invited me to join their new program Moment, where they ask photographers to submit photos for certain themes via smartphones. I submitted the above shot and some others for the theme “Visualize Choice.” It’s fitting, because I spent quite a bit of time trying to decide which planter to buy for a camellia. These definitely caught my eye, but I ended up buying something with a softer hue.
A book I just finished made me think about a different kind of choice. Wonder, by R.J. Palacio, is about a young boy with severe facial abnormalities and it is heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. One of the main themes is kindness, and this quote really spoke to me:
“When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.” ~ Dr Wayne W. Dyer
If only more people would choose kind.
Hope your week’s going well so far. Was anyone else surprised at the blowout that was the Super Bowl? Yikes.
I like the pots but would probably buy one with a softer hue as well but they rea great as photos.
Kind ness is a concept that is a lot on my mind these days. I like the quote too.
It was good to have that reminder. So easy to forget sometimes when you’re in an argument with someone determined to win, no matter what.
Thank you, thank you very much friends, I’am really happy to follow your blog. I’m still finding out more and thank you are an awesome blogger, and Inspiring Hope you inspire more readers basically very ok. greetings from Gede Prama 🙂
Thank you for the kind words. 🙂
I recently finished Wonder also. I thought it was so smartly written and Auggie’s daily plight reminded me that kindness (and meanness) is contagious.
Congrats on being invited to participate in the Getty Images program. That’s great news. Will they post your images on their site for the general public to use?
Yes, very smartly written. I really liked that the author gave other points of view so we knew what they went through too.
Thanks, Jackie. Yes, it’s supposed to work like the traditional site. Moment is pretty new, so still learning about it.
I didn’t even finish watching the Superbowl. Granted…I’m usually in bed by 8:30 anyways, but still….
You didn’t miss a thing. Get plenty of rest, you’re going to need it. 🙂
Congrats on the invite and I love this photo. We’re Bronco fans and were stunned by the game. We even stayed up to watch it, but went to bed before halftime. Such a disappointment after their season.
Aww, sorry, TBM. I still can’t believe Peyton Manning lost. He was supposed to break a lot of records.
