Last year I planted three hydrangeas in the backyard. I’m so pleased to see that they’re blooming this year. Some are pink, some lavender and some blue. A few are this color that seems to be a mix of all three:
Hope your week’s going well so far. . . .

This is a stunning photo. The color is so special and those little rain drops.
Thanks, Caroline. I was afraid the rain had blown them to bits, but they’re tougher than they look.
Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers. I love the varieties of shapes and colors. I read that the color of the petals comes from the type of soil – acidic vs non acidic. I don’t know if that’s true though.
Yes, it’s true, Jackie. Adding aluminum sulfate to the soil will make hydrangeas blue, and dolomitic lime will make them pink.
Love the photo. Every time I’ve tried to grow these I’ve failed. I hope you keep sharing photos so I can live vicariously through you.
🙂 I have had failures with them in the past, so I know what you mean. They do like lots of water, so I put them in a soggy part of the backyard.
I love hydrangeas. Especially that color!
Me too. I’m going to miss them when we move.
Luscious and rich … the lavender colour is spectacular.
Thanks, Cheryl. 🙂
