A while back, we discovered a little car show going on at Glen Echo Park. There were only three vehicles, but they were beauties!
How cool is this 1939 Ford pickup? If you’re thinking the Tweety bird in the back window inspired the colors, you would be right.
There were so many people milling about I couldn’t get a full shot, so settled for the details.
So beautifully restored.
Here’s a full-length photo if you’re interested:
There was also a 1939 Plymouth. . . .
That’s the Glen Echo carousel in the background.
The interior is just as pristine. . . .
I love those old steering wheels.
Finally, a vintage LaSalle:
They just don’t make them like they used to.

I love seeing old cars…for some reason they always remind me of my grandfather. Whenever he saw a car show he had to go!
I’m finding that I really enjoy them too.
It would be awesome to cruise around the neighborhood in one of these gorgeous cars. (But I imagine the MPG isn’t great. 🙂 )
That LaSalle is stunning.
Isn’t it?
Oh yes, they are gas hogs for sure. No seat belts, no air bags, no headrests, but they are wonderful to look at.
I used to drive a vintage Mercedes convertible and it was a money pit, but I loved that car.
These are awesome images. Love the level of detail you captured in these photos.
Thanks so much! I was really drawn to the details because of the workmanship and design.
You framed your shots beautifully, Carole. I prefer the details ….
Me too. They put so much into the design back then.
Wonderful cars. I like these pck up trucks. The yellow reminds me of something I saw in town today. In all the grey and black clothes allaof sudden I a saw a young woman in a intense yellow coat. A very elegant coat. That cheered me up. I remembered that I got a nice white one and have never worn it so far. Need to get it out. It has a retro 6os cut, white with black buttons.
Sounds wonderful, Caroline. Would love to see it sometime.
Yes, the steering wheel is really cool!
Classy classics – and the beauty is in those finely crafted details.
I remember loving the scratchy feel of the upholstery in Pa’s old black sedan (Buick?)as well as the lingering aroma of his tobacco – fond, fond memories!
Oh yes, I thought of his old Buick right away!
Any one of these beauties would make might long commute so much more enjoyable. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by!
