Signs of fall are starting to appear. The dogwood leaves are changing color, and there’s a difference in the air as the days grow shorter….
Remnants of a lacecap hydrangea
I’m not sure if my fuchsia plant will ever forgive me for putting it on the deck during the hottest July ever….
It’s almost as if this little ballerina is waving goodbye to summer. As for me, I’m ready for cooler nights, apple cider and sweaters. How about you?
Great weekend, everyone…I’m hoping Hurricane Irene is not as bad as forecasters are predicting.

We had a cool summer until a week ago, now all of a sudden it’s really hot at the same time there are a few dead leaves to be seen already. Two seasons in parallel. The fuchsia looks still very lovely.
Yes, Europe seems to be having really strange weather this year. I’m surprised at all the dead leaves here too, but I think it’s because the trees are stressed from all the heat.
Great capture. I love summer and I am sad it’s passing by.
I would like it better if we didn’t have so much heat and humidity, but it beats snow and ice for sure.
Thank you for all the lovely comments, and welcome to the blog. 🙂
I ‘heard’ the first sounds of fall at the cottage up here a couple of weeks ago … acorns kerplunking into the lake! And, I arrived home yesterday to the Black-Eyed Susans in glorious bloom!
No acorns falling here yet, but I imagine you’re ahead of us. Aren’t Black-Eyed Susans just the best this time of year? Their colors are perfect for fall.
Lovely photos. It has started to feel more like fall in Boston as well. I’m loving it.
Yes, me too. I’m kind of done with summer.
I used to love summer, but as I get older, I prefer fall and spring. I’m starting to prefer winter over summer.
Great pictures as always. Hurricane Irene hasn’t caused any problems here in Edinburgh yet.
Thank you. After watching CNN, I’m really surprised you haven’t seen Irene in Edinburgh. Oh, wait, the storm was as big as Europe, not in Europe. 😉
