We have been having the most beautiful weather lately. Sunny, warm, low humidity–kind of like Switzerland in the summer. So Mr. Prose and I have been walking in the early evening and eating dinner out on the deck before the bugs, heat and humidity descend on us.
Last night I took my camera, and these three irises in different locations were lit up like Christmas trees. How could I resist?
I’m familiar with the blue,
and the purple,
but pink? Where have I been? Oh, that’s right, ten years in California. Must have forgotten they come in this dusty rose color. I’m kind of liking it.
Hope your day is going well….

I don’t think I have ever seen the pink ones to be honest, but that is my favorite shot. The way the sun is hitting it is beautiful!
OK, maybe they’ve just introduce this color? I’ll have to ask the neighbor when she planted it.
Switzerland in summer is quite nice, I can confirm that. 🙂
Three beautiful shots. I haven’t seen pink ones either so far.
Caroline, I spent a summer’s week in Geneva years ago and the weather was incredible, especially in the morning. Sitting on the balcony, drinking cafe au lait and munching on croissants and gruyère while looking at the lake and alps–sheer heaven.
Basel is very humid in summer but it’s the exception. The more towards the South or the center, the more it is like you describe it. But we also have this very transparent light and fresh air in the morning. I like to drive to lake Geneva in summer too, Montreux is especially nice but one of my favourite places on Earth is the Italian part of Switzerland. Locarno, Ascona, Lugano, palm trees and lakes.
Yes, I’d love to see Lugano one day. I also loved being in the Lake Como area of Italy. No wonder George Clooney has a villa there!
Lovely Ms Pearl. I can’t wait for our irises to start blooming. I can tell that I need some more variety than what I have. That dusty rose iris is beautiful.
I’ve grown a lot of flowers, but never irises, Jeanne. May have to plant at least a pink one now.
So glad you and your camera were seduced by these beautiful irises (my favourite flower – siberian iris) at twilight. I have never seen the pink bearded iris either.
Love Siberian iris too.
Lovely as usual Ms. Pearl! So pretty!
This has been a really good spring for flowers. Usually the rain beats them down.
My irises are all falling down, leaning towards the sun. I suppose they need to be in bright sun all the time, although that is not what I was told.
I have no clue! The irises I photographed were all in western sun.
