I do love me some dogwood blossoms. Pink, white, wild, whatever. They’re all over our neighborhood right now and I love shooting them.

Very beautiful photos my friend, the pink just makes me smile and fell like spring is here π
They really signal spring for me too, Mindy. I hope all is going well for you…really miss viewing your photos.
Really gorgeous. We do not have them here at all. The leaves are very delicately colored and none has one color only, wonderful. Also the shape of the petals is quite special. We have loads of Magnolia trees in bloom which is also beautiful.
I had never seen dogwoods until I moved to the East Coast, Caroline. There’s a legend that the shape is supposed to mimic the cross that Christ died on.
Boy, your photos are so lovely. I went to the botanic garden this week and found out how hard it is to get great photos. Mine came out blurry or just uninteresting. You’ll have to share your tips and tricks someday.
The main things I would tell you are:
1. Shoot in the early morning or late afternoon–midday sun is a killer when it comes to photography.
2. Get in as close as your camera and lens will allow.
3. Use auto focus if you’re having trouble focusing.
4. Try to find a balance in your composition; use the rule of thirds or keep your subject off-center.
5. Pay a lot of attention to the ambient light–it’s just about everything.
6. Experiment with different settings until you get what you want.
7. Take lots of photos.
This is really brief, but I hope it helps. I’m an amateur too.
Dogwoods are some of my favorites. I like any tree with flowers.
Come to think of it, I do too. I’m grateful to not have allergies.
Aren’t they beautiful … and such variety! Great shots. If we every do meet up Carole, you best put a lock and key on that iPhone of yours!
Ha ha! Duly noted. π
Absolutely gorgeous Ms. Pearl! And I LOVE your wording. I do love me some dogwood blossoms too π

Beautiful photographs, especially the bottom one
Thank you. That’s my favorite too.
