Older beauties

For this Things I ♥ Thursday, some incredible architecture. All shot on or around Q Street in Georgetown.

Yellow beauty

Would you believe the turret is only a quarter of this yellow beauty? When I have a wide angle lens, I’ll go back and get the whole mansion. (Yes, a private residence.)

This place is across from the yellow house. Sigh.

details. Honestly, I could shoot stuff like this 24/7.

Great weekend, everyone! My painting class is going really well now–the fog is clearing slowly but surely. I still have so much to learn, but I’m not totally lost anymore. I just needed to trust my instincts. Who knew?

I could look at posts like this 24/7! Thanks for sharing. Love the turrets and details on the older homes. I would have loved to have been there watching as they were built.

Those homes are just gorgeous! Glad you had great lighting for these shots.

I almost hesitate to say this, because there’s really hardly a comparison, but don’t they just slightly remind you of their dingier counterparts in Columbus’ Victorian Village?

By the way, I’m so proud of you for sticking with your painting class. It’s great to hear you’ve found your painting hands again. I really hope you’ll post some of your work here one day. 🙂

Such beautiful houses, really enjoyed those shots.
How wonderful that you enjoy the painting classes. The first steps can be so horrible.

    • They really were. At one point I considered dropping the class, but only for a minute. Something made me keep going and I’m glad.

I’ll be posting more pics of Georgetown.

Wow! What a gorgeous area, it looks like something out a movie. Everything is so beautiful and crisp looking. I love architecture too so I know the obsession very well 🙂

So lovely. There is a home with a similar looking turret in my neighborhood. You’ve inspired me to take a photo of the grand old dame. That’s what she feels like a grand old dame!

I love the turrets, and the buildings are amazing! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Wow, that is quite some mansion there.
The turrets make it look like a castle.
    Amazing

I always draw great pleasure from viewing your photographs, Carole … Too bad you can’t shoot 24/7 … Hmmmm cloning perhaps? Cheryl
