OK, the purpose of my blog is not to push products, but every once in a while, I need to share something I really love. Red Velvet Chocolate Tea is one of those things. I like chocolate a little too much, so I’m always looking for low-calorie versions of it. This stuff has no calories as far as I know (no calorie count on the canister) and it is delicious.
The ingredients are a little unusual: rooibos, chocolate, vanilla and beet root. I looked up rooibos, and according to Wikipedia, it’s “a member of the legume family of plants growing in South Africa‘s fynbos. Rooibos is used to make a herbal tea called rooibos tea, bush tea (esp. Southern Africa), redbush tea (esp. UK), South African red tea, or red tea.
Yesterday, while brewing some of this stuff, I noticed the dining room light fixture reflected in the cup and snapped this with my iPhone:
Yes, my real first name is on flickr and that’s fine. You can call me Ms. Pearl or Carole or whatever you wish. I do want to keep some anonymity so I can continue to take photos without people freaking out. I’m very happy to look like just another tourist. I am also careful to not exploit anyone or anything for this blog.
When we were in San Diego in November, I saw the coolest guy playing saxophone in Balboa Park, but he was busking and that crossed a line for me. I’ll be writing more about this subject tomorrow….
Thank you, and welcome!
I don’t like tea, but I kind of want to try this.
Someone just messaged me that it’s high in antioxidants, so I’m using it on this cold of mine. I think I feel better. 🙂
Sounds delicious, the kind of tea I like. Rooibos is quite fashionable here. I once had one called Rooibos Strawberry Cream and it really had a taste like strawberry and cream + the rooibos. The photo is unique, there is quite alot to see, the reflection of the lamp, the pattern on the table cloth. Interesting. I don’t know how the name discussion originated… I like Ms Pearl.
That sounds even better, because I love strawberries and cream!
If you click on the photo of the teacup, it will take you to my flickr page. That’s where my real name shows up. I like Ms. Pearl too. 🙂
(…) Wait. You mean to say you took that picture with your phone? That’s amazing.
You had me at chocolate. But then again, you had me at tea. Looks like I can add this to my shopping list.
I can’t get over the camera on this phone either.
The tea sounds wonderful but then again anything with chocolate always makes my short list.
I love the photo of the tea cup such an interesting picture of elegance. Very pretty! My white tableclothes stay looking that white for about two minutes until someone bumps the table getting up or down from it spilling whatever liquid is on the table.
Right now the white tablecloth is soaking in the laundry tub after someone who shall remain nameless spilled spaghetti sauce on it. I should have taken it off after the holidays, but it looked so nice! 🙂
Now, that sounds more like my home!
Cool–the BF loves red velvet and tea, so just ordered a box for V-Day! Thanks!
I LOVE the picture but the tea doesn’t sound very good to me. I have tried different flavored rooibos but I think I prefer the fruity flavors.
Sorry, no can do. I think I OD’d on fruity herbal teas when my kids were born. I would drink a cup of chammomile after the 2 a.m. feeding. To this day, I can’t even look at the stuff.
