Looking back through my photos of Amsterdam and Norway, I suddenly noticed that I hadn’t put a lot of the photos on the blog. And then it hit me: one of the worst years of my life happened after that trip. My brother died, and I had to go through major surgery. That year just kind of disappeared for me.
So now, let’s go back. First up, Bergen.
After the funicular, we went over to check out the markets.
Not your everyday fare….
The fruit looked so good, but we had just eaten.
These crab legs were huge.
I loved the architecture of the surrounding buildings. And aren’t the houses on the hill so lovely?
This one looks empty, the yellow one too….
Dyre Vaas’s sculpture, the Maritime Memorial, commemorates sailors and traders from different centuries. Fishing was crucial to Norway in the past.
Pretty sure this one is fake. 🙂 Golden arches in the background.
Ludvig Holberg, Baron of Holberg was a writer, essayist, philosopher, historian and playwright born in Bergen during the time of the Dano-Norwegian dual monarchy. Holberg is considered the founder of modern Danish and Norwegian literature. Note the seagull at his feet.
The Hanseatic Museum. We didn’t have time to go through it, unfortunately. The Hanseatic League was a medieval commercial and defensive confederation of merchant guilds and market towns in Central and Northern Europe.
I spent a few days in the Portland, Oregon area. First flight in three and a half years! I flew with Delta Airlines and they left on time every single time. Even landed early. It was weird flying to Salt Lake City from San Diego when the final destination was Portland. Oh well.
I was visiting my son, so we went to Sauvie Island Farm, which I went to with my other son four years ago. It was threatening to rain, but we only had a couple of sprinkles before we arrived.
It is just such a picturesque place….
I was so happy to see lavender. I’d wanted to go to a famous lavender farm (Lavender Valley Farms in Mount Hood) but found out it closed down permanently!
I love sunflowers. Almost all of them were covered with bees like this one.
I like the clouds in this shot.
And more sunflowers.
I like the way this one is almost standing at attention.
I can’t remember if these are asters or dahlias. Did you know both are edible?
I have never seen cabbages growing in the ground. Didn’t realize the outer leaves were so big. Aren’t they beautiful?
I was going through my Alaska photos and realized I never uploaded two of them. Probably because I didn’t want to overload flower pics. The flowers were so beautiful in Alaska!
I’m not sure, but I think these are different types of lobelia? Correct me if I’m wrong.
Definitely lobelia and Swiss balcon geraniums, but I don’t know what the white ones are.
I’m pretty sure I took this photo in Alaska where the flowers were HUGE. That was such a surprise for me…forgot about the sun being out for hours and hours. I believe they’re petunias.
Am slowly learning my way around the new laptop and monitor and having fun.
I just got a new laptop and monitor, which I LOVE, but I need to learn my way around them. I also got a new version of Photoshop (my old version was 13 years old!) so I have a bit of a learning curve to master. Hopefully I can load a photo here….
This is one of my favorite photos from our Alaska trip. It’s actually my screen saver right now. Glacier Bay.
Our cat Yuri likes to sleep on a chair in our bedroom that has a fake-fur throw on it. It’s sometimes hard to see him there because he blends in so well!
A rare photo of Yuri looking straight at the camera. Usually he turns his head as soon as he sees it.
