Halloween Will Be Different This Year

For the first time ever, we won’t be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. We actually don’t expect to have any kids ring the doorbell this year because of the pandemic. So strange, but that’s 2020 for you.

Also, on Halloween night there will be something called a Hunter’s Blue Moon. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, a Halloween full moon visible for all time zones on Earth hasn’t happened since 1944. It won’t happen again until 2039. Cool, huh? It’s called a Hunter’s Moon because it’s the first full moon after the Harvest Moon when hunters used moonlight to find their way.

Great weekend, everyone, and stay healthy….

  1. Susan says:

No trick or treaters ever visit our house in the country anyway but I’m sure glad our local and state officials are not canceling Halloween. However, many many MANY people and assorted entities voluntarily joined a community effort and have designed a variety of special activities to make sure trick or treaters have fun experiences in each of the city’s quadrants this evening.
PS. Our only Halloween visitors were a couple of masked ‘trash pandas’, AKA raccoons, who tore into our jack o lantern sitting on the porch and ate a good portion of it so the next day Jack’s remains went into the compost pile. We got tricked – Hahahahaha!
